Audacity is a Digital Audio Editor & a Recording Application Software which available for Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux, and other Operating Systems. Developed by a group of volunteers as open source. The executable (.exe) file size is less than 100MB. Audacity is an Easy-to-Use Multi-Track Audio Editor and Recorder. I think still Best Free Audio Editor for Windows is this.
Users can record live audio through a mixer or a microphone & Digitize recording from other media. You can combine sound files and export recordings in various formats & supports 16-bit, 24-bit, and 32-bit. Also, support for LADSPA, LV2, Nyquist, VST, and Audio Unit effect plug-ins.

How to Remove / Reduce Noise from an Audio File in Audacity
This is a very simple & easy thing as a basic noise reduction. Follow the instructions below.
First of all, Download – Install and Open the Audacity audio editor.
Then Import your Sound Track / Audio File that you need to remove noise. You can simply Drag & Drop it to the Audacity editing Timeline.
When Importing a file, it warns you to choose an import method. I recommend you to select ‘Make a copy of the files before editing (safer)’.
If you Imported a Stereo Sound Track, you would see two separate sound waves. If you Imported a Mono Sound Track, you would see only one sound wave in the timeline.
I am using a Mono Audio recording in this guidance.
Remove Noise from Audio
Now Play & Listen to the soundtrack carefully. Try to recognize a time period where you hear only noisy sounds from the background. You can select a ‘silent‘ section of your audio, where it’s just noise.
Then go to the Effects from Menu in the top and click Noise Reduction (It was ‘Noise Removal‘ earlier). Again click Get Noise Profile.
Now select all of the audio from which you want that background noise removed, but if you want to remove noise from the full audio (if the noise is everywhere), select the whole soundtrack. You can use Ctrl + A keyboard shortcut to select all.
Go to the Effects tab and select Noise Reduction again. Change / Adjust the Settings only if it is necessary ( I think Defaults are fine 🙂 ). Then press, OK.
The task is Completed. That is how to reduce noise in audacity. Now you have removed noisy sounds from your audio. You can listen to the audio to ensure your audio doesn’t have noises like before. You’ll notice it clearly if you compared the Before-and-After Waveforms of the Audio.
